V Magazine at UVA is a magazine at the University of Virginia hosting upwards of 100 upcoming creatives. As a UVA magazine, we intend to develop and strengthen the community of University creatives, provide a space for budding artists to experiment and refine their skills for future professional endeavors, and highlight student work and talents of both national and local artistry.

Ruby Foster

Ruby Foster joined V Mag in November 2025 and is now the Website Director. She is a second-year from Seattle, Washington studying media studies and French. Her dream job would to be the editor of Travel and Leisure. Her all time favorite piece of media is the show New Girl. A fun fact about Ruby is that during covid she lived on an island in the Pacific Northwest called San Juan Island!

Chloe Sherrill-Howell

Chloe Sherrill-Howell joined V Mag in August 2024 as a design staffer and is now Design Director. She is a third-year from Reston, Virginia studying environmental thought and practice and women, gender, and sexuality studies with a minor in English. Her dream job is to be a lawyer in the field of environmental justice law. She has been a graphic designer for five years and is grateful for the space VMag has given her to connect with fellow artists. Her favorite piece of media is the movie EMMA. (2020) by director Autumn de Wilde. A fun fact about Chloe is that 95% of her closet is thrifted or second hand!

Miriam Ahmad

Miriam joined VMag in August 2025 as a features staffer and now serves as Features Director. She is a third-year from Yorktown, Virginia studying linguistics. Her dream job would be to work as a journalist and freelance writer. Her all-time favorite song is “Dreams” by The Cranberries.

Kieran Warner

Kieran Warner joined V Mag in September 2023 as a social media staffer and is now serving her second year as Editor-in-Chief of VMag. She is a third-year from Oakton, Virginia studying commerce with a concentration in marketing and media studies. Her dream job would be to do the marketing/branding for a music festival. Her all time favorite piece of media is the Punisher album by Phoebe Bridgers. A fun fact about Kieran is that she is part of a stand-up comedy duo (shoutout @scapegoatunderground)!

Vivian Nam

Vivian Nam joined V Mag in September 2024 as a design staffer and now serves as one of the Social Media Directors. She is a second-year from Chantilly, Virginia studying IT and Marketing in the McIntire school of Commerce. Her dream job would be to get paid for eating food and ranking on Beli. Her all-time favorite artist is Beyoncé, and currently Cowboy Carter . A fun fact about Vivian is that she has an extra bone in her neck!

Sophia Chlipala

Sophia Chlipala joined V Mag in September 2024 and serves as co-Events Director. She is a third-year from Breckenridge, Colorado studying in the Batten School with a double major in media studies and a minor in entrepreneurship. Her dream job would be to be a travel documentary director. Her all-time favorite piece of media consumed is the book Little Women and the 2019 movie adaptation. A fun fact about Sophia is that she has been skiing since she was two!

Rosie Strickland

Rosie Strickland joined VMag in September 2025 as a creative writing editor and is now Assistant Literary Director. She is a third-year from Connecticut studying literary prose writing and environmental thought and practice. Her dream job would be as a staff writer for the New Yorker, and eventually teaching creative literature at a university. Her favorite piece of media is the essay “Grand Unified Theory of Female Pain” by Leslie Jamison. She loves to be outside and holds a special place in her heart for lighthouses, chickens, and redwood tress.

Bella Perna

Bella currently serves as Production Director. She is a fourth-year from New York City studying media studies with a minor in general business. She loves meeting new people, exploring creative opportunities, and getting involved in projects that let her learn something new. She’s excited to be a part of VMag this year, and looks forward to collaborating with everyone while continuing to grow and explore her interests in media, marketing, and storytelling.

James Torgerson

James joined VMag in September 2024 as a design staffer and is now Design Co-Director. He is a third-year from Virginia Beach, Virginia studying data science and philosophy. His career aspirations center around the intersection between humanity and technology, with an interest in both data/technology policy and digital accessibility. His all-time favorite piece of media is the video game Disco Elysium. A fun fact about him is that outside of V Mag, you can find him helping out with WXTJ student radio.

Brianna Le

Brianna joined VMag in September 2024 as a social media staffer and is now a Design Assistant Director. She is a third-year from Reston, Virginia studying Media Studies and Studio Art. So far, her favorite college memory has been treating concessions for the Disney Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour as karaoke. She is incomplete without daily seaweed snacks and the Mamma Mia! soundtrack playing 24/7. Her and Spiderman have never been seen in the same room...

Lucia Payne

Lucia joined VMag in September 2025 as a creative writing editor and now serves as the Creative Writing Director. She is a second-year from New York City planning to study English with a concentration in modern and global studies. Joan Didion is one of Lucia’s all-time favorite writers, and she plans to write a memoir herself one day. A fun fact about Lucia is that she’s been writing and making music since she was seven years old!

Dorothy Philip

Dorothy Philip joined V Mag in September 2024 as a production staffer and now serves as Co-Production Director. She is a fourth-year from Chantilly, Virginia studying Architecture and Data Science. She hopes to work at the intersection of design and technology. Her all-time favorite piece of media is The Creative Act by Rick Rubin. A fun fact about Dorothy is she has a Jack Russell Terrier named Juno.

Rishi Chandra

Rishi serves as the Copy Director for VMag. He is a third-year pursuing a double major in american studies and global studies with a minor in public writing & rhetoric. Rishi is interested in the intersections between the arts, media, culture, technology, and global politics. In addition to V Mag, he serves on the Student Technology Council, as Managing Editor for the Virginia Review of Politics, and as Workshop Executive for Societal AI. In his free time, he loves to watch movies. While he loves all types of cinema, he has a particular fascination with low-budget Tubi slasher films.
